COMMON QUESTIONS

Which CNIC numbers belong to Sindh?

Any CNIC whose first digit is 4 was registered in Sindh. The register lists 30 district codes for the province, running from 411 to 462.

The province digit is the one part of the prefix that is officially documented and definitive.

How many divisions does Sindh have in the CNIC scheme?

The coding scheme uses 6 divisions for Sindh: Hyderabad Division, Karachi Division, Sukkur Division, Larkana Division, Mirpurkhas Division, Shaheed Benazirabad Division.

The second digit of a CNIC selects the division, and the third selects the district inside it.

Which five-digit Sindh codes can be named?

This register documents 10 five-digit local-zone codes in Sindh: 41201, 41205, 41301, 42101, 42201, 42301, 42401, 42501, 42601, 42701.

NADRA has never published the complete zone table, so codes outside this list cannot be resolved to a named area.

Does a Sindh CNIC code prove domicile there?

No. The prefix records the place of registration, not residence or domicile. Domicile is a separate certificate issued by the district administration, and moving house does not change the number already printed on a card.
